A CompTIA certification is offered by a non-profit and non-partisan organization for individuals interested in entering the computer technology field free of venue-based ties and obligations. A CompTIA A+ degree will allow a graduate to become a professional computer technician. This certification requires that candidates demonstrate capability by completing 500 hours of training, specialization within a specific technology area, and the successful completion of two exams. These exams test understanding of both hardware and operating system software, with a greater emphasis on hardware.
