Professionals graduating from a Juris Doctor Degree have the grounding in practical law required to become a lawyer. A Juris Doctor program does not automatically entail an individual to practice – they must first pass examinations to satisfy the bar conditions in the state in which they wish to practice law. Once this exam is passed, a Juris Doctor may become a lawyer. Professionals who are interested in the research aspect of law may instead pursue a Doctor of Juridical Science degree. Entrance requirements for a Juris Doctor Degree program call for a Bachelor Degree as well as certain GPA restrictions and the successful completion of an LSAT.
