The vast arrays of subjects under this discipline include history, sociology, psychology, human geography, anthropology, economics and political science. The social sciences can be pursued by a specialized focus on one subject or the student can take a variety of subjects in order to gain a broader understanding of humans and society. Careers in the social sciences are as varied as the subject matter, and can include placement in education, law, government, and academic research.
