Cisco certification in network design and interconnectivity at the advanced level is commonly referred to at Cisco Certified Design Professionals (CCDP). Certification for large network protocols, routing, quality of service, BGP and MPLS gives the title of Cisco Certified Internetwork Professional (CCIP) to the degree holder. One step down in size from there is the mid-ranged network experts, known as Cisco Certified Network Professionals (CCNP), who are proficient in broadband, quality of service, VPNs and other security features. This requires first obtaining the CCNA and CCDA certificates. There are other Cisco Certified professionals as well. This area of computer networking is in high demand by businesses, especially large and mid sized, who require network maintenance. The Professional Certifications in Cisco usually require a complementary Bachelor Degree in computer science or a related area of information technology, and with these qualifications has the potential to earn an average salary of $85,000 or more per year.
